Over the Christmas period of 2006, the Industrial Museum staged a small display of Christmas images from the CH Wood archive which gave an enticing glimpse of Christmas at Busby’s in years gone by.
While many visitors enjoyed seeing these memories from their childhood, others expressed a degree of disappointment that there was less than they’d expected.
It was felt that a full exhibition would be popular and so it proved when ‘Busbys’ - The Store with the Friendly Welcome’ opened at the museum a year later.
Fast forward another year and now the Busbys’ story has become a book. Launched on a snowy December 4th 2008, it is now available from all Bradford Museums, priced £12.95. A book signing by members of the Busby family will take place on Saturday December 13th between 2pm and 4pm at Bradford 1 Gallery in Centenary Square, Bradford.
Throughout this time ickledot has worked on original images and designed various text panels, invitations, programmes and other materials.

In February 2008, Paul Busby, grandson of founder Ernest, wrote to ickledot:
“The Busby exhibition will shortly close having been such a resounding success. This we are fully aware is due, in no small measure, to your very special technical expertise, and dedication to your computer … It was a surprise to all of us: family, staff and customers (all of a certain age) that the memories we though of as dormant were brought vividly to life by the displays which owed so much to your skill and hard work.”
