    107 Not Out

Never mind the start of the World Cup. The really big opening this weekend is ‘107 Not Out – A History of the Bradford Cricket League’ at Bradford Industrial Museum. In the cricketing world, the Bradford League is much respected and over the years many of the world’s greats have played for its clubs.

ickledot is proud to have designed the fliers, invitations and text panels for the exhibitions, as well as processing images on display.

The exhibition is open to the public from tomorrow, Saturday 12 June, and the formal launch is next Thursday evening, June 17.

Cricket – England’s win at Lords

I know there are going to be a huge number of words written about England’s victory over Australia today, by people far more articulate and knowledgeable about the game than me. And I certainly do not want to crow about the victory itself although I am obviously pleased, coming from this part of the world.
So the bit I wanted to consider was the fact that an England team has not beaten the Australians (we’re talking cricket here, for those who live outside cricketing loop) since 1934. 1934!  It’s just an amazing idea that a game or any other activity can go on for so long before a particular result or outcome repeats itself.
My dear departed dad was ten years old the last time it happened. A world war, television, space flight, computers, the internet. All that and so much more has come into our lives between one England victory over Australia at Lords and the next one.
People have lived whole and quite long lives in the interim.
A host of hugely talented England cricketers have come and gone without achieving the result that has occurred today.
A special day indeed. Oh, and there’s the anniversary of the moon landing as well.
