Nurse Jackie (tag: Nurse Jackie, television)

If you’ve not seen this excellent TV show:http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00qpkv6 yet, don’t start watching it now! It’s one of those that needs to viewed right from the first episode, and I think the series is nearing its end on BBC2, Monday nights. Although the programmes can be enjoyed individually, the characters develop and the storylines unfold beautifully from show to show.
It’s great comedy drama, a M*A*S*H* kind of dark humour. This time, however, the central ‘heroic’ figure is flawed, which adds to the tension.
And if you don’t normally like hospital shows, this is different. You just might like this one.

    Other Side of the Fence

The village where I live, Sunny Oxenhope, could be described as being semi-rural. In parts, it could even be seen as rural; it’s certainly surrounded by farm and moorland. However, there are places where former use currently makes the place look a tad untidy. I won’t say ’spoils’, as I know there are fans of derelict places just as much as there are people who love rolling countryside.

Anyway, the good thing about a camera phone is that you can appear to be on one side of a fence while actually standing on the other.

    Opening Time

Early most Saturday mornings, I go and meet a couple of chums for coffee and toasted teacakes in a little café in the shopping precinct. It opens on the stroke of eight o’clock, when the ceremony of the opening shutter is performed.

    Desklife

Here are some pics I took at the museum today. The fruit was on the table at our Digital Stories training session. I ate the biscuits instead of taking pictures of them.

BBC News – Today – Audio slideshow: ‘Shaped by War’

The interview on the Today programme with Don McCullin was excellent. I aim to get to his retrospective at the Imperial War Museum North some time.

His pictures make uncomfortable viewing – but they should be seen by as many as possible. To give an accurate view of what war is really about.

    Snow Returns

Just when we’d almost got back to a normal life of non-slippery pavements and roads, the snow returned this afternoon. Hopefully, it will not remain for very long.
